History of Play Therapy

This workshop will be IN- PERSON. Workshop will fulfill the required 5 hours of instruction required to become an RPT.

Date: December 2nd, 2022.

Description: This workshop will review the history of play therapy to meet the required five hours of instruction to become a RPT.  This workshop is designed to tour the history of play therapy from its conception to now. Focus will be placed on key people, events, organizations, and seminol theories that have contributed to the development of play therapy.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

1. Participants will identify and be able to list the grandfathers and the mother of play
   therapy.
2. Participants will become aware of the origins of play therapy in Europe and how play
   therapy came to America.
3. Participants will know and be able to describe the origins of the ten seminal theories of
   play therapy.
4. Participants will understand the origins of play therapy and understand how it has
   transformed into the play therapy in use today.
5. Participants will become aware of the founding of the Association for Play Therapy and
   how it has encouraged the development and awareness of play therapy world wide

PRESENTER: Danielle White, LPC, RPT-S

Danielle White is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor.  She specializes in early childhood play therapy (ages 18 months-5) and also works with individuals 5-18 and at times adults.

**Cancellation policy:

Refunds will be given for paid continuing education training cancelled by MAPT and for when MAPT relocates training to another region of the state.  For attendees who cancel 48 hours prior to the start of the training, a MAPT CREDIT will be provided to attendees for the amount paid, and can be used at a future MAPT training.
