Day 1- Play Therapy Treatment Planning 

Are you able to write measurable goals that balance caring for your clients’ needs and meeting parents’ and/or insurance’s expectations?  Let us help you enhance this process!  This Play Wellness learning experience focuses on effective treatment planning and writing quality play therapy goals and interventions based on play therapy theories and client needs.  Please bring a sample treatment plan with you.  This is a live, in-person workshop that focuses on the following APT training content area: Play Therapy Techniques/Skills.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Review four play therapy treatment planning guidelines as described in the Play Therapy Best Practices (Association for Play Therapy, 2019)
  • Recognize three values of treatment planning within the context play therapy
  • Examine one sample non-directive play therapy treatment outline
  • Review one sample directive play therapy treatment plan
  • Explore steps for writing S.M.A.R.T. play therapy treatment plan goals
  • Practice writing Child Centered Play Therapy treatment guides to enhance therapeutic objectives
  • Practice writing S.M.A.R.T. directive play therapy goals related to assessment, treatment (client needs and diagnoses), and termination
  • Identify five relevant play therapy interventions used to support S.M.A.R.T. play therapy treatment plan goals

PRESENTER:

Yolanda Fountain, Ph.D., LPC, ACS, RPT-S, NCC is the founder of Play Wellness LLC and is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor (RPT-S), an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), and a National Certified Counselor (NCC).  She earned a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Mercer University and a post-graduate certificate in Working with Survivors of Violence, Torture, and Trauma from the University of Maryland.  Dr. Fountain has worked in the mental/behavioral health field since 2006 in the grade school, community, psychiatric residential, college counseling, and private practice settings.  She specializes in play therapy and sandtray therapy and provides care to business and helping professionals, parents and their infants/children, and trauma survivors.  She has extensive experience in higher education as a counselor, professor, and clinical supervisor.  Dr. Fountain loves and teaches graduate-level play therapy and mental health courses at several universities.  She has also presented at local, regional, national, and international conferences on multiple topics related to mental health (wellness and illness).  Dr. Fountain strongly advocates for the effective care and wellbeing of clinicians to stimulate optimal client care and wellness.

Day 2- Play Therapy Documentation

Documenting can become more than anticipated… Allow this workshop to help you get organized!  This Play Wellness learning experience focuses on play therapy session notes and documentation to enhance ethical practice and case conceptualization skills.  Participants will explore ways to document efficiently for quality case management.  Please bring your current play therapy session note template and a sample clinical note.  This is a live, in-person workshop that focuses on the following APT training content area: Play Therapy Techniques/Skills

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Review three play therapy documentation guidelines as described in the Play Therapy Best Practices (Association for Play Therapy, 2019)
  • Apply three formats for documenting responsibility and ethically within play therapy
  • Explore five pros and cons regarding the use of electronic health records within the context of play therapy
  • Review essential components of a play therapy session note
  • Examine two play therapy session notes, including the BASK session summary
  • Practice writing a play therapy session note to enhance documentation and case conceptualization skills

**Cancellation policy

Refunds will be given for paid continuing education training cancelled by MAPT and for when MAPT relocates training to another region of the state.  For attendees who cancel 48 hours prior to the start of the training, a MAPT CREDIT will be provided to attendees for the amount paid, and can be used at a future MAPT training.
