Supporting the Play Therapist Supervisor

In this workshop, we explore a more in depth look into the clinical side of Play Therapy Supervision. This workshop will give both new and experienced RPT-S’ resources and support when managing the clinical aspects of Play Therapy Supervision. This workshop is APT CE approved and is worth 6 contact credits. It will be limited to 40 participants. This workshop will be held virtually.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Identify the APT expectations and discuss as a group how to implement that in play therapy supervision.
  • Identify the 3 competencies and discuss the importance of play therapy competencies to increase credibility and consistency within the field.
  • Describe 3 qualities of effective play therapist supervisors.
  • Discuss 6 problematic or ethical areas a play therapist supervisor might experience and struggle with when working with clinicians in play therapy.
  • Develop a working definition and conceptualization of the clinical play therapy supervision process.
  • Demonstrate 6 activities to help facilitate play therapy supervision through play therapy techniques

PRESENTERS:

Jennie Wilson, MA, LPC, NCC RPT-S is a  Licensed Professional Counselor and a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor.  In 2016 Jennie received the Katherine Boone Outstanding Play Therapist Award from the Missouri Association for Play Therapy.  Jennie obtained her play therapy training through Mid America Nazarene’s Play Therapy Certificate Program.    She has been trained in TFCBT, Theraplay, Autplay and recently completed EMDR training.  Jennie is in private practice, and her clinical specialties include childhood and adolescent issues as well as educating other professionals in the field.

Marie Bonner-Horon, MA, LPC, NCC, RPT is the owner of Ways of Play Counseling Services, LLC. Marie has undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Sociology and a graduate degree in Human Developmental Counseling. Marie began her career in a Therapeutic Day school helping school aged children balance mental health and academics. From there, she transitioned to working for a group private practice and became a Registered Play Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor. In October 2020, Marie started her own private practice: Ways of Play.  Marie is also starting her journey to becoming a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor.

CEUs: 6 contact (Play Therapy Approved); post test required. Approximately 5-7 questions per CEU.

**Cancellation policy

Refunds will be given for paid continuing education training cancelled by MAPT and for when MAPT relocates training to another region of the state.  For attendees who cancel 48 hours prior to the start of the training, a MAPT CREDIT will be provided to attendees for the amount paid, and can be used at a future MAPT training.
