Two Day Workshop: Digital Tools

PRESENTER

Fiona Hill, MTS, MA, LPC, RPT is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Missouri.  She currently works in a group practice as a children and family therapist.  She specializes in working with those who have experienced attachment wounds, childhood trauma, as well as, families impacted by developmental disabilities.  Fiona utilizes primarily EMDR and Play Therapy in her practice—she is currently working towards both her Registered Play Therapist credential and EMDR certification.

Morning Session: Digital Tools: Incorporating a Digital Play Room In Your Play Therapy Practice

Description

While some play therapists have moved to in person sessions, others have continued to provide Telehealth play therapy sessions and some are providing services in a hybrid of in-person/telehealth format.  Having a digital play therapy room is beneficial for whatever format you choose to provide play therapy services.  This 3 hour training will explore ways to create a digital play room, as well as, identify therapeutic powers of play and ethical concerns when creating the play room.

Due to COVID-19 health concerns, this one-time online event has been approved by APT for 3 CONTACT CE Hours. Participants will be limited to 40/day.

  1. Participant will be able to identify at least 1 Therapeutic Powers of Play in the use of digital tools in play therapy
  2. Participant will be able to identify at least one way to document in clinical play therapy notes

  4. Participant will be able to create a digital play room.

Afternoon Session: Digital Tools: Embracing the Potential in Play Therapy

Description

With an increase in therapeutic focus on the digital world as a direct result of Covid-19, play therapists have needed to adapt in order to provide services in a way that both includes and respects the tenets of play therapy through digital formats.  With this being said, utilizing digital tools in play therapy is not new to the playroom.  This 3 hour training will briefly explore history of utilizing digital tools in play therapy, explore use of various digital tools in play therapy sessions (apps, Virtual Sandtray App®©, Roblox) and documentation of digital play therapy sessions.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Refunds will be given for paid continuing education training cancelled by MAPT and for when MAPT relocates training to another region of the state. For attendees who cancel 48 hours prior to the start of the training, a MAPT CREDIT  will be provided to attendees for the amount paid, and can be used at a future MAPT training.
