What is Happening to US? Play Therapy with Adults and Couples

Play therapy can be challenging with adults, so many ideas and treatment needs!  During this workshop participants will explore clinical applications from a neurobiological perspective, and learn trauma responsive play therapy interventions to address  adult and/or couple’s  emotional distress during therapy; including  how to address clients’ emotional distress during this pandemic.

Due to COVID-19 health concerns, this one-time online event has been approved by APT for 6hrs
CONTACT CE Hours. This workshop will be held virtually and limited to 40 participants.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Participants will be able to describe 3 ways treatment intake may help play therapy practitioners promote interventions and solutions to adult/couple’s treatment.
  • Participants will be able to identify three psychological reactions specific to trauma during play therapy sessions with adults/couples.
  • Participants will be able to describe the three neurobiological processes that occur during play therapy sessions with adults/couples specific to COVID stress.
  • Participants will be able to describe the rationale behind the central nervous system when using play therapy interventions with adults/ couple’s.
  • Participants will be able to identify three play therapy treatment elements necessary for treating adult/couple’s trauma.
  • Participants will be able to identify  6 play therapy interventions which can be used to regulate and built resilience in adult and couple’s treatment.

PRESENTERS:

Rebeca Chow, PhD, LPC, LCPC, Registered Play Therapy Supervisor is a bilingual Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Missouri/Kansas and a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor. She received her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Kansas State University. She serves as the Clinical Director of Counseling Services at Church of the Resurrection. Dr. Chow is actively involved in the counseling and play therapy community with topics related to mental health neurobiology, diversity and inclusion, parenting, supervision, and technology. She is a consultant for the Kansas Division of Family Services and Sesame Street in Communities.  In addition, she is serving in the Association for Play Therapy Board of Directors.

**Cancellation policy

Refunds will be given for paid continuing education training cancelled by MAPT and for when MAPT relocates training to another region of the state.  For attendees who cancel 48 hours prior to the start of the training, a MAPT CREDIT will be provided to attendees for the amount paid, and can be used at a future MAPT training.
